Majoring on the Minor Prophets, Book of JONAH, Lesson 24, pt. 2 – “Repentance”
The Book of JONAH… Jonah is a prophetic book that shows God’s patience and mercy for the sinful city of Nineveh. It tells the story of a prophet who ran from God, was swallowed by a fish, and preached repentance to the people of Nineveh. The book also teaches God’s love and compassion for His people. Jonah’s fear and pride cause him to run from God. He does not wish to go to Nineveh to preach repentance to the people, as God has commanded, because he feels they are his enemies, and he is convinced that God will not carry out his threat to destroy the city.
