Know Your Bible – Lesson #3, “Mutual Submission in Marriage,” pt. 2
Marriage Like Christ and the Church – “22 Wives, be subject to your own husbands, as to the Lord. 23 For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church, He Himself being the Savior of the body. 24 But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything.” Ephesians 5:22-24 NASB1995
A Bible study using the “Grace to You” pamphlets from John MacArthur. (These are stocked in the EBC library as reference starting points.) The study includes a time for intercessory prayer. This Bible study is an opportunity to dive into God’s Word, fellowship with other believers, and pray together.
Paul considers PRAYER paramount. Listing FOUR (4) types of prayer in 1 Timothy 2:1-3:
1. PETITIONS, Supplications – Tend to be prayers to divert evil and negative circumstances from the enemy of our souls;
2. (General) PRAYERS – Petitions for believer’s spiritual and material needs;
3. INTERCESSIONS – Prayers prayed on behalf of the needs of others;
4. THANKSGIVING, “Giving Thanks” – Comes from the Greek word “eucharistia”, which indicates praise to God in the form of being thankful to Him for His loving graces toward us.
